And the adventure has started. Today was the last day of my finals so this
morning was spent with reviewing everything I have been taught in the last two
years in my nursing classes. Once I felt
confident with the material I took a break to pack for the trip. I packed everything I had on my list and
returned to studying. The real fun
started when I arrived at Methodist College to meet up with my classmates for
our class trip. From the college we were
transported to City Link in downtown Peoria.
Think about a clown car when person after person gets out: that is
exactly what the Methodist van looked like when got out. Once we were settled at the bus station,
things took a very interesting turn. A
gentleman ran into the station yelling that they needed help because a man had
fell and went unresponsive. Because our
chaperone is a nurse, I told her and we went to the aid of the man who needed
assistance. She checked his pulse and I
attempted to arouse the man. When my
efforts were not successful I did a sternum rub in which the man had slight
movement. After yelling his name and
asking him to open his eyes he finally woke up and was upset we were around
him. The police were able to calm the
man and the ambulance was in route at this time so we went back inside. The excitement doesn’t end there though. The bus we were taking to Champaign was late arriving
in Peoria to pick us up. When the bus
arrived the driver was taken back by the number of people getting on the bus
which then cause one lady in the crowd to get upset and cause a slight
scene. Once on the bus, order was
restored and we were on our way to Champaign.
Halfway through our bus trip I made the comment to a classmate that I
felt the driver was swerving. When I
looked up from my comment I realized the driver could not see out her
window. We eventually pulled over where
she wiped the windows clear so we could finish our adventure to Champaign
safely. Now to get on the train and continue
our adventure.
