The Power of Beautiful Art

While walking around Royal Street and going into gallery after gallery we stumbled across Sutton Galleries.  I was able to speak with Ron Sutton who is the son of the owner of the shop.  There was an artist who was displayed in the front half of the store by the name of Isabelle Dupuy.  She is a French Contemporary landscape artist.  It seems that she travels the world and paints pictures of the scenery she encounters.  Her artwork is colorful in the sense it pops off of the canvas.  Somehow her work is done in 3-D and Ron was kind enough to allow us to touch the painting.  The feel of the paintings is best described as almost a rubbery feeling.  By Ron’s account Isabelle Dupuy is the galleries best-selling artist.  He explained that it is almost impossible for them to keep her artwork in the gallery.  When seeing her paintings I feel that they almost grabbed me by the arm and dragged me in to look at them.  Their colors are brilliant and vibrant; the 3-D work just makes me want to touch it continuously.  It’s so hard to explain but those are two of the things I can explain that drew me to her artwork.  The scenery of the artwork tells a story of serenity, peace, and beauty.  This story draws me in because I like woods, water, and beautiful trees that flow peacefully in the wind.  The paintings had such a calming effect on me which was exactly what I needed at the time.

I am having difficulty loading the pictures Ron allowed me to take at the gallery.  I will post pictures when I figure out what the technical difficulty is.
